Perth

Location

The Perth property is composed of 12 mineral concessions covering 2,280 hectares that lie over the border of the provinces of Huasco and Copiapo in the III Region of Chile, Region de Atacama.  The project is situated 75 km northwest of the city of Vallenar, 20 km west of the Pan-American Highway and 150 km south of the city of Copiapo.  The property is easily accessible year round by dirt roads that criss-cross the property and is located close to power, water and a major urban centre, Copiapo, with a readily available mining workforce.

Geology & Mineralization

The Perth property lies on the western margin of the northern portion of the Chilean Coastal cordillera at the contact between Paleaozoic meta-sediments and late Jurassic diorites and monzodiorites. 

The Perth property lies over the sheared contact of Paleozoic meta-sediments are from the Chanaral Metamorphic Complex comprised of shales, phyllites and schists.  The sediments have a strong north north east striking shallow foliation of not more than 40° dip.

The diorites are from the Canto del Agua formation which consist of diorites and gabbros and is known to host extensive veining with copper and gold mineralization

The Perth property hosts a north-south trending vein swarm underlying the southern half of the property.  These veins pinch and swell but are generally two metres wide and have been measured up to six metres wide. Individual veins can be traced from a few hundred metres to more than two kilometres. Most of the veins identified to date on surface lie within the meta-sediments, however several veins have been traced cross cutting the meta-sediment granodiorite contact

History

Mining in the region was historically focused on the Carrizal Alto area to the west of Perth property.  However the Perth project has been subject to artisanal mining of veins on surface. 

Appleton Resources Ltd. optioned the Perth property in 2008 and completed a surface sampling program with the vendor over 12 veins identified on the southern portion of the property.  Significant results of this sampling are:
